Ricky J. Parisian Scholarship Recipients

Every year in May, the Ricky J. Parisian Memorial Scholarship Foundation presents a scholarship to an Oneonta High School graduating senior. The award follows the student through four years of college provided the student continues to meet scholarship criteria and acceptable performance in her or his educational program.

Welcome Mickaela Buzzy– 2018 Recipient!

Mickaela Buzzy, 2018 Recipient

Mickaela, as with all recipients, was selected as the recipient of the Ricky J. Parisian Scholarship in recognition for demonstrating respect, integrity, honesty, & responsibility.

While at OHS, Mickaela introduced the ‘One Love Foundation’ that brings awareness to relationship abuse. She was described by teachers as one who is “always willing to help others”.  Noted as a hard worker and one who ‘perserveres’ Mickaela was in the National Honor Society since her sophomore year.

Mickaela immersed herself in the school community. Involved in many clubs, she was a member of SADD (secretary), Service Club, & Student Council.  She played on the varsity teams multiple years for soccer and basketball, taking on leadership roles in both.

Mickaela has dedicated much time to community service; volunteering at the Pit Run and Turkey Trot, also coaching U8 & U12 soccer. She played Travel Soccer for years, and spent this summer working at the Boys & Girls Club.

Mickaela has been accepted to attend The Sage Colleges, with campuses in Albany & Troy. Her long term goal is a career in Physical Therapy.

The Parisian Foundation wishes Mickaela all the best and looks forward to supporting her through her college years!!
